Some have panic attacks which usually result from being exposed to specific kinds of situations, including agoraphobia, fear of open spaces and claustrophobia, fear of enclosed spaces. Obsessive compulsive disorders compel people to perform certain acts in order to relieve high tension. Frequent hand washing and compulsive neatness are two examples. Post traumatic stress disorder is the result of a particularly traumatic event in ones life, for example experiencing war or a severe accident. Sometimes the actual experience and event that initiated these conditions may very well remain unknown to the conscious mind. And that is why hypnosis and hypnotherapy are the best tools for anxiety relief.
Consciously trying to control anxiety or panic through rational thought alone can be extremely difficult and often ends up making matters worse. The reason for this is because what we focus on we tend to amplify, so trying to think our way out of anxiety can lead to us creating even more anxiety provoking thoughts, which only serve to increase the symptoms.
